Submittal Procedures for Permits

Residential: One set of plans with two copies of the foundation plan and two site plans are required for plan review of new houses. A letter from the structural engineer must accompany the foundation drawings. The letter must state that the plans were designed and are in conformance with the requirements of the 2000 International Residential Code. Residential plans must be folded. Rolled plans will not be accepted.

An engineering letter is required for all foundation designs when plans are submitted. Engineered plans may also be required for other types of construction at the discretion of the Building Official. All engineered plans and letters must state that the design conforms with the 1997 Uniform Building Code or other applicable code currently adopted by the City of Wylie.

Commercial: Three complete sets of plans with sheets not larger than 24" X 36" are required. Commercial and multi-family projects must comply with the 1997 Uniform Building Code, 2000 Uniform Mechanical Code, 2000 Uniform Plumbing Code and the 1999 National Electrical Code.

Plan Check Turnaround Times

New residence: Approximately 15 working days. After the permit request has been reviewed, the applicant will be contacted and informed if the permit has been approved -- or if changes must be made to the submittal request.

Residential remodel or addition: Approximately 10 working days. After the permit request has been reviewed, the applicant will be contacted and informed if the permit has been approved -- or if changes must be made to the submittal request.


 

 

Note: Some permits require approval of the Fire Department, Planning Department or the Collin County Health Department. Additional time may be required to obtain approval from that Department.

Lawn irrigation systems: Usually done at the counter, but may take up to two days.

Swimming pools and fences: Usually takes 3 - 5 business days. After the permit request has been reviewed, the applicant will be contacted and informed if the permit has been approved -- or if changes must be made to the submittal request.

New commercial building or addition: Approximately 20 working days. After the permit request has been reviewed, the applicant will be contacted and informed if the permit has been approved -- or if changes must be made to the submittal request. Revised plans are normally reviewed within a week of receiving the revisions.

Commercial remodel: Approximately 15 working days. After the permit request has been reviewed, the applicant will be contacted and informed if the permit has been approved -- or if changes must be made to the submittal request.

Sign Permits: Approximately 5 working days. After the permit request has been reviewed, the applicant will be contacted and informed if the permit has been approved -- or if changes must be made to the submittal request.
