BOARD MEETING

The Library Board of the city of Wylie met in regular session on October 9, 2000 at the Library at 7:00 p.m. The attendees were:

Shirley Burnett

PRESENTATION

Florence Mason and Maureen Ardnt presented the long range plan to the Board. They hit the high points of the plan which included square footage, location possibilities, and the goals that are detailed in the plan.

1. Approval of the Minutes.

Minutes were approved as read from the September 11, 2000, meeting.

  1. Discuss and Act Upon Approval of the Long Range Plan.
  2. The Plan was approved by the Library Advisory Board.

  3. Discuss December Party Plans.
  4. The Board will have a party on December 11 at Gerry Whitt's house. Details will be discussed at the November meeting. The party is tentatively scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

  5. Discuss Meeting with Representative Madden and with Senator Sharpiro.
  6. Mignon announced her plans to pass out 3X5 cards at the Q&A meeting on October 16. Several board members agreed to assist with distributing cards and Grace agreed to review questions to ensure there are not duplicates.

    Publicity has been submitted to the Wylie News, Dallas Morning News, and Plano newspaper. The information is posted at City Hall and the Community Center. In addition, the Library's email list will be contacted along with the Chamber of Commerce and Kiwanis Club.

    Three Board members and the Library Director are scheduled to meet with Senator Sharpiro on October 19 at 2:15 p.m.

  7. Discuss Monthly Report and FY 99-2000 Summary Report.

September circulation statistics increased significantly compared to September 1999. The fiscal year was very busy and productive.

NEW BUSINESS

Mignon requested a list of people that were planning to attend the Board Dinner on October 19.
