RITA & TRUETT SMITH LIBRARY BOARD The Library Board of the city of Wylie met in regular session on February 11, 2002 at the Library. The attendees were:
1. Approval of the Minutes.
There was a 25% increase in circulation over March 2001. Mignon prepared a graph for the board packets that shows the increases in circulation over the last three years. The board liked the graphics. Dan Hendrix suggested putting more visual images in the newspaper such as pictures and graphs of statistics. Dan volunteered to talk to Chad and make sure the information could be published in the newspaper. The Library is featuring Arts Month in March. There is a display of Ted Lownik’s artwork in the Library. He is a well-known artist from the Chicago area. There was a program on March 5 and there will be another program on March 19. April is FRED month which is a new program provide by the Texas A&M Cooperative Extension Program. The purpose of the program is to encourage fathers to read with their children. The program will kick off with an orientation on April 1. The Young Author’s workshop will begin on April 1 too. There will be special programs during National Library Week too.
