BOARD MEETING

The Library Board of the City of Wylie met in regular session on July 8, 2002,
at the Library. The attendees were:

Grace Morrison
Adrian Sanchez
Shirley Burnett
Liz Allen

Pauline Akin-excused absence due to illness

ACTION ITEMS

1. Approval of the Minutes.

Minutes were approved as read from the May 13, 2002 meeting and as corrected from the June 25, 2002, meeting.

2. Discuss and Act Upon the Approval of New Officers.

Grace Morrison nominated Shirley Burnett to be president of the Library Advisory Board. Liz Allen seconded the motion. Adrian Sanchez nominated Grace Morrison as Vice President, and Shirley seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous for approval.

3. Discuss Monthly Report and Summer Reading Club.

The Library broke a record with over 14,000 checkouts in the month of June. Daily records were broken too with two days of over 1,000 checkouts each day. Other statistics have soared through the summer too. There were 490 registrations for Summer Reading Club as of June 30, 2002 which is a significant increase over last year's 310.

4. Discuss Quarterly Report.

The Library had a good quarter. Statistics increased considerably in most areas especially circulation and new library card signups.

The biggest project of the quarter was the database brochure which is being sent out to every household in Wylie . This project was funded with state direct aid.

NEW BUSINESS

Mignon announced that the Library's Internet Policy is on the Council Agenda for July 9, 2002, for approval of the changes related to CIPA.
