Water Conservation Tips
Water conservation is at a premium during this time. The City encourages
all residents to practice water conservation during their day-to-day
household activities. Here are some recommended water conservation
tips
| Inside Your Home |
- Check all faucets and pipes for leaks.
*note: To find out if you have a leak, turn off all water
inside and outside the house then check the water meter.
If the meter is running, you may have a leak.
- Convert plumbing fixtures to low-flow.
- Turn off the water while shaving, washing your hands
or brushing your teeth.
- Take shorter showers.
- Wash full loads of dishes or clothes.
- Wrap your hot water pipes and water heater with insulating
material to speed up delivery of hot water to your tap.
- Adjust the water level in your washer for smaller loads.
- If washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run.
|
| Outside Your Home |
- Convert your landscaping to desert landscaping (Xeriscape)
which uses low water use plants.
- If you must have turf, plant it next to the house to create
a cool spot.
- Adjust sprinklers so they only water your lawn and plants
and not the sidewalk, street or side of house.
- Check for leaks in hoses, pipes, faucets, and couplings.
- Use a swimming pool cover to reduce on evaporation.
