Reference Request

The librarians at the Smith Public Library would like to help you with your questions. We have provided a form for you to submit a Reference Request to the Librarians for assistance via email.

Types of question we can answer by email:

  • Brief, factual questions, such as the source of a quotation, a company or organization address, a historical fact or date, etc.
  • Requests for suggestions about appropriate sources to research a topic.
  • Questions about the Library or the City of Wylie, such as how to obtain an obituary from a Wylie paper or how to contact the local Chamber of Commerce.
  • Requests for shelf checks for items the library owns, although you can also go to our Online Catalog to determine what books and materials are available current.

Types of questions we CAN NOT answer by email:

  • Requests for bibliographies on a topic.
  • Questions requiring legal or medical interpretation.
  • Requests for lengthy research on a topic.
  • Requests that are very broad in nature (be specific).
  • Requests that contain adult content.
