Streets and Roads Improvements

As a city experiences rapid growth, one of the major challenges that it faces is city infrastructure.

Listed below are a couple of important projects related to Wylie's infrastructure. Most of these projects represent the $38 million of projects approved by voters in the November 2005 bond program.

Project Stone Road – Phase I
Description This $3.2 million project is to expand Stone Road from two lanes to four lanes from Ballard to Akin.
Status Under construction, scheduled for completion in August 2007.

 

Project Alanis
Description This $1.1 million project is to build a new four lane road from Twin Lakes to old FM 544.
Status Scheduled to begin construction in summer 2007 with completion in fall.

 

Project Ballard Street
Description This $3 million project is to expand South Ballard Street from two lanes to four lanes from Stone to Alanis.
Status Scheduled to begin construction in summer 2007 with completion in fall/winter.

 

Project FM 1378 (Brown to Parker)
Description This $6.7 million project is to expand FM 1378 (Country Club) from two lanes to six lanes from Brown to just south of Parker Road. The City of Wylie is participating with Collin County on this project.

Status Currently acquiring right-of-way, construction scheduled to begin early spring 2008.

 

Project FM 1378 (FM 544 to Brown)
Description
This project is to expand FM 1378 (Country Club) from two lanes to six lanes from FM 544 to Brown and create a new alignment. The City of Wylie is participating with the State of Texas and Collin County on this project.

Status Currently acquiring right-of-way, construction scheduled to begin early spring 2008.

 

Project Brown Street (West)
Description This $9 million project is to expand Brown from two lanes to four lanes from FM 1378 (Country Club) to Ballard.
Status In the design stage with construction scheduled to begin in 2009

 

Project Brown Street (East)
Description This $6.3 million project is to expand Brown from two lanes to four lanes from State Highway 78 to Stone (by Wylie East High School).
Status In the design stage with construction scheduled to begin in 2009.
