In
2006, the City expanded the recycling services provided through
Clean Up – Green Up. Previously, all materials collected
were taken to the area landfill. By increasing the recycling
services, the City reduced the loads taken to the landfill
by more than 30% in the spring. Combining both the spring
and fall 2006 events, the City collected approximately 71.5
tons of scrap metal and appliances, 10.5 tons of electronics
and 600 cubic yards of brush, which was converted to mulch
and spread throughout our parkland.
