Summer Tennis Program - Summer 2008

The City of Wylie Parks & Recreation is sponsoring a Summer Tennis Program for children, youth and adults. Various levels of instruction and league play are available.

Registration
Drop-off registration will begin on Monday, April 14, 2008 at the Bart Peddicord Community Center, 100 W Oak St. Registration will continue through the first day of each program. To register, please bring registration in person to the Community Center or utilize the drop-off slot if after business hours. Please include registration form and payment, which should be made out to the City of Wylie.

Summer Tennis Registration Form

SCOOPERS provides younger children, ages 5 to 7, a basic understanding of the game and fosters a love for the game through the use of larger, slower balls which provide for immediate success.

YOUTH tennis will allow 7-14 year olds an opportunity to develop the skills they need to be successful at the game of tennis. Players will be provided instruction and will compete in a league format against other players within the league. A season ending tournament will allow players to experience the thrill of competition.

JUNIOR TEAM tennis will allow 13-17 year olds an opportunity to improve their skills while competing with teammates against other Junior Teams from around the Metroplex. Parents will be responsible for local travel to Saturday competitions. League schedule to be announced. Junior Team members will also have the opportunity to qualify for the Texas Amateur Athletics Federation, State Games of Texas to be held in San Antonio on July 26-27. Additional information will be provided at practice.

ADULT tennis will allow those players 18 year of age and older to receive instruction and compete in a league format against other local players. A season ending tournament will be included.

HIGH SCHOOL TUNE-UP CAMP will be offered to provide a concentrated week of instruction and preparation for entering 9th-12th graders. This camp should help prepare the beginner through advanced player for try-outs and to get a jump on the fall high school tennis season. Camp will be held daily from 8am to 11am, Monday-Friday, August 4-8, 2008. Cost of this camp is $75 per player. Please provide your own racquet.

Fees
Fees include great instruction by qualified tennis instructors, t-shirt and tennis balls. Players must provide own racquet.
