This Board is composed of seven members and three alternates; its powers and duties are to provide rulings on appeals from a decision of the Building Official’s office, declare a building substandard in accordance with the provisions in the City of Wylie Code of Ordinances Section 22-211 and order the secure, repair, or demolition of buildings or structures found to be in violation thereof, review and study the building codes for the purpose of remedying any deficiencies, discrepancies, or errors therein, assessing the use of the latest safe and sound building materials, standards, specifications, and practices conducive to the constant improvement of human habitation within the city, and recommending to the building official modifications of existing rules and regulations or the promulgation of additional rules and regulations.

Candidates should have an understanding of general construction practices or real estate development. Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and/or Plumbing contractor experience is beneficial but not required. Meetings occur on an as needed basis at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers, Wylie Municipal Complex, 300 Country Club Road, Building 100
