Share your child's special day with a fireman. We offer two separate options for birthday parties. You may choose to have it at the firestation closest to your home or have the fireman come to your home & visit your child's party. Both options allow children to view a fire truck and our firefighters will give a short fire safety talk with children & their parents.
Common Questions
What dates can I schedule parties? You may schedule party dates for any Saturday or Sunday between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m.
How long do the parties last? Birthday parties should not last more than two hours.
What do I need to provide for the party? Parents must provide all supplies including but not limited to paper goods, cakes, balloons, drinks, etc. Parents are responsible for all set-up and clean-up.
How many children can attend? Because a lot of parents attend parties with their children, and many of them bring siblings, WFR must ask you to limit invitations to 12 children per party.
What will be provided for the party? WFR staff will do their best to make your child, and their guests, feel as welcome as possible. WFR staff will give guided tours of the station, and allow the children the opportunity to view vehicles. Additionally, they will give a short overview of fire safety to guests (a lot of great information is given during this discussion and we find many parents learn more than the kids!).
Will WFR staff remain with guests during the entire party? WFR remains on call 24/7, 365 days per year delivering excellent E.M.S. and fire services to our citizens. If our staff is dispatched to a call during your child’s party, firefighters will be forced to leave the party. In essence, you may not get everything you expected. As much as we may regret this action, our number one focus must be assisting individuals at a crucial moment in their lives.
Is there a fee for having my child’s party? There are no fees required to have your child’s party at the fire station; however, WFR has several projects/programs you may donate to if you so choose.
Ø Friends of Wylie Fire-Rescue—this program is designed to assist Wylie firefighters and their families in case of accidental death on the job, to assist with activities such as our 100 year celebration, etc.
Ø Clown Program—WFR provides fire education annually to school age children. Donations help provide funds for costumes, props, and other miscellaneous items.
Ø AED Program—WFR has received grant funds to provide AED’s throughout the city. These AED’s have been placed in highly populated areas of town in public buildings to provide important life saving abilities to the public in case of an emergency. Donations help WFR maintain these AED’s with batteries and other items that need replacing after use.
Please make checks payable to Friends of Wylie Fire-Rescue or FOWFR.
