The Public Safety Communications Division, under the direction of the Fire Chief, includes nine full-time dispatchers and a Communications Supervisor.
Public Safety Dispatchers are crucial to the operations of the Wylie police and fire departments. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, rain, shine, snow, ice, or tornado, dispatchers and call takers are at their consoles, processing over 40,000 calls for service a year. This group of dedicated individuals is backed up by a crew of support staff members who work tirelessly in the background, supporting the core mission of the department which is "Provide Excellent Service in a Timely Manner."
Overall, the PSC division is the one that has the initial and most significant interaction with citizens of Wylie and beyond, yet is one of the least visible departments within the City of Wylie. It is this quiet and selfless type of dedicated professionalism that allows our department to support police, fire, and EMS operations as well as assist our citizens when they need us the most.
