In 2002, eight local fire departments were in desperate need of a fire training facility to provide basic training and educational programs to local firefighters. Their main purpose was to consolidate training budget needs and share training costs when feasible. These programs would assure both the health and safety of our local firefighters. There is no other training center in the immediate area that meets the Insurance Services Organizations (ISO) requirements for a facility capable of holding training exercises in live fire training, high angle rescue, trench and technical rescue (U.S.A.R.), confined space, driver training, hazardous materials, ventilation, incident management, and performance standards testing. This training center was designed to provide for these training disciplines. Many companies and local fire departments donated materials, and time to help get this facility up and running.
Today, the training facility is used by many local area fire departments and is a source of major pride for our department. |
