You are encouraged to register for Activities early and guarantee your spot in the Course before maximum enrollment is met.

You must be appropriately registered to participate in any Registered Activity before start time, including full payment and waiver. This may take some time at the front desk if there are other Guests in line. Allow time for your front desk registration or register online Activenet.Active.com/Wylie.

Activities cancel several days out if minimum enrollment is not met. Register early and encourage friends to do the same.

Register in bulk ... Schedule conflict? No problem. You may receive full Activity Registration Fee refund for most multi-day Activities through the first meeting date, subject to the Activity Withdraw and Refund Policy. Please review full policy prior to registration.

PreK Parties - Let's Luau! - You are invited to four seasons of holiday celebration! Shake that grass skirt and limbo! Learn about the Hawaiian traditions and cultural activities. Sample the tropical sounds, sights and tastes of the magical islands. Theme appropriate clothing encouraged.

Celebration Luncheon - Happy birthday to you, and you and you! Celebrate and share birthday wishes with favorite and new friends while enjoying a themed party that includes lunch, drinks and dessert. Stick around for an afternoon of fun games and door prizes.

Hand & Foot Tourney - Winter's Park is sponsoring a Hand Foot Tournament for us. Pick your partner and come to win! Winners will receive a gift card prize.

The Chew Luncheon - "Chew" over your ideas, wants and concerns regarding Activities with staff. We provide lunch. You provide input! Splash Dash - Beat the heat and splash into local pools with your friends! Enjoy a Wylie Recreation staff supervised trip to a Garland, Plano or Rowlett swimming pool. We provide the transportation. Glitz & Glam Girls - Gain advice and coaching on skincare, wardrobe, hygiene and more. Daily crafts and fun projects included. Make friends with similar interests and develop team building skills.

Manners Bootcamp - Has your child ever wondered which eating utensils they should use at a banquet or restaurant? Instruction and techniques include table etiquette, grooming and good sportsmanship. Participants receive daily snacks and drink, binder of information, manicure kit, t-shirts, certificate of completion and graduation party.

Young Rembrandts - Foster self-expression through art! This premier instructional drawing program offers unique step by step drawing methods. Learn about line, composition and color while exploring fun and playful subjects. Start and finish amazing projects that impress the best, gain confidence, exercise imagination and unlock creative potential and passion for art. Dress to mess!

Animals of Africa Workshop - Learn about some of Africa's most majestic animals while illustrating them using pastel chalks. Explore an antelope displayed within a mélange of patterns, a stylized zebra with a creative color palette and a regal lion! All levels welcome.

Horse Drawing Workshop - Equine enthusiasts, explore the world of horses in a variety of drawing adventures! Learn to draw the full horse body plus details of the horse head in a variety of different scenes using pencils, color pencils, and chalk pastels. Complete several individual horses and horse scenes each day.

Artful Adventures - Calling all young artists! Learn three mediums in three days from a Robert Garden Certified instructor. Complete six individual pieces including two watercolors, two oils on canvas and two acrylics on canvas. Learn new techniques and make new friends. $45 supply fee payable to Instructor.

Kids-N-Arte - Learn painting techniques while learning Spanish art terms! Explore different mediums such as pencils, colored pencils, acrylic paint on canvas and more. Little painters build artistic skills while learning the styles and techniques of outstanding master and contemporary artists through conversational Spanish and English.

Ballet & Tap Dance - Learn to quick shuffle tap and basic ballet steps. This introduction lays the foundation for future dance instruction. Improve coordination, flexibility and confidence. Gain grace and poise in this well rounded dance combination. Perform a dance at the end of camp for family and friends.

Drill Team & Hip Hop - Learn hot mainstream hip hop dance moves combined with traditional drill team choreography! Easy to follow moves encourage all ages to learn and improve motor skills. Enhance dance moves while being taught how to be positive role models and making new friends.

Jazz Dance - Learn signature turns, kicks and leaps that challenge while encouraging individual expression. Instruction includes correct body positions, floor work and combinations. Improve confidence while developing poise and coordination at any level, through a popular dance known for natural, rhythmic and contemporary form. Perform a small recital for family and friends.

Total Cheerleading! - Go. Fight. Win! Gain the essential skills to lead the crowd and support the home team all while practicing cheer safety. Learn cheers, proper hand and body movements and jumping techniques. Focus on having fun while learning leadership, self-motivation and other important life skills.

Music Camp - Learn steady beat, rhythmic notation, music symbol identification, famous composers and instrument families. Prepare for formal instruments ahead of time. Become familiar with different kinds of music and begin the foundation needed to succeed with any musical instrument. Instruments provided.

Chess School - From first attack to checkmate, build a solid foundation for future master chess players. Learn the history of each piece, terminology and problem solving. Challenge the mind through various tactics and strategies while building cognitive short and long term skills, enhancing problem solving skills, and become a critical thinker.

Animation - Love cartoons and always wanted to make your own? Now you can! Create your very own short cartoon using fun and easy to use software. Learn how to make a storyboard, animate characters and voice the characters in your animated film.

Cinematography - Lights. Camera. Action! Learn what it takes to make your own short film. Make your movie a blockbuster success with various techniques in script writing, filming, acting and directing. Take home a personalized DVD of your finished project to share.

Game Design - Have you always wanted to create your own video game? Create charming characters like Mario and Luigi, save a princess, battle bad guys like Bowser and advance through levels you design! Take your finished game home to share with friends and family.

Game Design I - Learn how to make a custom video game and play right on your Windows PC in a fun and educational environment. From designing levels and creating characters to programming movements and control, you learn the entire process start to finish.

Game Design II - Prerequisite: Game Design I or instructor approval. Create complex environments, enemies and situations using Alterable Variables. Learn more about Level Design and Game Theory to add that professional polish to your game.

Web Design - Whether you are looking to create a personal website to share with grandparents and friends or improve on a school project, this hands on instruction helps you achieve your goals. Learn how to create and focus your ideal website to reach family and fans using leading industry software.

Friday FUNshops - Beat the Texas heat and enjoy one of these educational and exciting summer indoor activities! Participate in a fast paced workshop of fun with your friends. Learn Math, Science, Art and Business skills and how to apply them to everyday life.

Business Games & Life Prep - Learn about marketing, how to identify problems and visualize solutions. Learn how to set goals and manage time. Participants leave with the confidence and passion to discover and implement new ideas!

Crazy Science! - Learn to observe, plan, overcome obstacles, and develop hypotheses while participating in hands-on science experiments and physical activities. Rockets, glowing goop, crystals, racecars, parachutes, volcanoes and exercise included!

Kid Builder! - Utilize a variety of materials to build interactive gadgets that can fly, race, swing, dig and float! See firsthand the importance of science, math, engineering and technology while developing skills to succeed in and out of the classroom.

Math Mania! - Utilize exciting hands-on activities to develop basic math skills and learn about angles, graphing coordinates, mapping, geometry, concept development and much more. Math is fun and its application is all around us!

MyLife Art! - Utilize drawing, sculpting and painting to discover your dreams and bring them to life! Learn to visualize success, set long-term goals, develop a course of action, overcome obstacles and believe in yourself while learning art basics and making tangible goal reminders.

STEM Genius Science & Technology - Dig into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and return to school smarter than your classmates. Discover more about engineering and math. Team up with your fellow campers to strengthen your understanding of energy sources, structures, ocean mechanics and more through hands-on experiments. Take home a project each day.

Let’s Get Growing - Investigate sun, wind and rain this summer! Dissect soils and seeds, make your own sun visor, explore the life of a caterpillar, living plants and leaves. Discover the art of rubbings and make a garden mural with your fellow campers. You might even make friends with a ladybug or two!

Claws, Codes & Comets - Discover claws, codes and comets! Learn about planet pollution, test what your toes have to do with tennis and your feet have to with football, and experiment with natural dyes found in your favorite fruits and veggies. Get a taste for space and eat like the astronauts!

Forensics Lab a la CSI - Take part in CSI style forensics in these hands on looks at crime scenes. Identify and collect evidence from fingerprints to trash. Recreate a crime scene using clues and observations. Use science to connect the dots and help sniff out the suspects. Make and take home projects each day.

Elementary Engineering - Using LEGO kits, creatively build machines applying basic engineering principles. Learn a variety of math and science concepts and how to apply them to gearing, simple machines, problem solving and communication skills. Inherit the traits of an Engineer in a classroom setting. Includes a Culmination Event and take home project.

Jr Engineering - Get excited about engineering! Using LEGOs build fun projects and learn basic and complex engineering through creative problem solving. Figure out what makes those wheels turn and how rubber band cars move! Take home your finished project at the end of the week.

Jr Engineering 1 - Creatively build and modify machines through basic engineering skills using unique LEGO kits and curriculum. Learn basic engineering principles, simple and compound machines, gearing, forces in motion and more. Wrap up the camp with a rubber band car challenge!

JrEngineering 2 - Build complex projects using gears and motors from unique LEGO kits. Learn about gear ratios, forces in motion, model design and redesign, integrated problem solving and more.

Jr Vehicle Engineering - Creatively build and modify different vehicles including everyday vehicles, concept cars, construction machines and more using unique LEGO kits. Learn general engineering principles such as friction, forces, motion and aerodynamics! Race the cars that you build against others! Includes take home project.

Moving With Science - Discover how science moves the world around you! Creative instruction includes multiple areas of science from biology, to engineering, to chemistry. Dissect owl pellets, grow crystal gardens, build camera obscuras and even bridges. Each day campers create amazing projects to take home.

Robotics - Learn how to build a Race Car, a Ball Shooter and even an Electric Guitar! Work in groups of two building these exciting projects using NXT Lego Robotics, while learning the ins and out of robotics. Take home a short video on DVD showcasing your creation.

Rocket Ride to Space - Blast-off your knowledge of aerodynamics and flight! Prepare for an intense and exciting study on rockets! Build your very own rockets and planes, and experiment with different kinds of propulsion systems. Each day campers create amazing things to take home.

Collision Cars - Use LEGO kits to build a variety of cars ready for battle. Learn a variety of concepts including basic engineering principles, gearing and gear ratios and electric motors. Apply your knowledge in an arena and challenge your designs. Includes take home project.

Vehicle Engineering - Build up to 2 different motorized vehicles per class, capped off with a final project using our unique LEGO kits. Learn a variety of concepts including basic engineering principles, gearing and gear ratios, electric motors and energy, forces in motion and more! Includes take home project.

Outdoor Archery - Bullseye! Learn to shoot the competition style compound bow from a certified instructor. Focus on basic skills, technique, the use and maintenance of equipment and safety. Become a proficient archer and develop strength, flexibility and increased attention span in this unique learning environment.

Agility Games & Dodgeball - This exhilarating sport combo takes fun and hard work to another level! Young athletes improve  agility, explosiveness, lateral movements, and speed all while playing over 14 different types of dodgeball and speed games! Gain fundamental sport physicality and support core teamwork principles.

All Basketball - The first step to a great season! Young athletes learn from college level players and trainers. Instruction includes proper execution of defense, shooting, passing/ball movement, dribbling, and rebounding while playing one-on-one and team games. All levels benefit from the step by step instruction, helping all ages  thoroughly understand and improve.

Basketball Shooting Skills - Young athletes learn proper shooting technique from college level players and trainers while playing one-on-one and team games. This unique setting also addresses the importance of goal setting, developing a course of action, hard work and other crucial life skills that help children excel in all areas of their life.

Classic Sports - This fast-paced sports combo utilizes dodgeball, kickball, capture the flag and other classic games to improve the overall sports skills and life skills children need to succeed! Program time focuses on speed, strength, proper nutrition, exercise, self-motivation techniques, goal setting and time management.

Extreme Golf Games & Skills - Young golfers benefit from this upbeat and non-traditional golf experience. Instruction includes  golf  fundamentals and proper golf etiquette all while playing exciting games that  guarantee to keep them interested, active and having fun! Focus includes important life skills and teamwork.

Total Volleyball - This introduction curriculum exposes young players to the rules and fundamentals of volleyball in small group and team settings. Program time and guided instruction focuses on hand-eye coordination, core strengthening, proper footwork, power, self discipline, self-motivation, nutrition, exercise and FUN!

Water Sports & Classic Games - This exciting sports combo utilizes dodgeball, kickball, capture the flag, water guns, water balloons and other classic games to improve the overall sports skills and life skills children need to succeed! Program time focuses on speed, strength, proper nutrition, exercise, self-motivation techniques, goal setting and time management while making friends.

Senior Chow Critics - Everyone's a critic! Hunt for the best burger, perfect pepperoni pizza and excellent egg fooyung around while exploring local metro eateries both new and well established. Deep in the Heart! - Travel to the heart of Texas by train and see many areas of our Lone Star State not normally seen traveling by roadway. We will be staying at the historical, some say haunted, Menger Hotel. We will also follow the Mission Trail to visit the San Jose, Concepcion, San Juan and Espada Missions while ending our journey at the Alamo. Within walking distance of the hotel is the River Center Mall, Riverwalk, Market Square and many other shops and restaurants.

Sunsational Saturday - Gather the family together for some good old fashioned fun! Pick a peach, lounge with the longhorns, and stare into space with your siblings. Get off the beaten path and discover Texas Summer fun! Light refreshments provided. Ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult age 18 years and older. Bring child car seats if required by law. Peach Picking & Petting Zoo - Pick sweet, juicy, ripened peaches directly off the tree at Red River Peach Orchard! Then visit historical Gainesville for lunch. End the day at Frank Bucks Zoo where you can feed the animals. U-pick peaches are $1.50/lb. Bring a sack lunch or money for lunch.

Perot Museum of Science - The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is Dallas's most popular attraction of 2013! The breathtaking and mind breaking museum is full of wonder and will be enjoyed by everyone.

Stockyards & Snakes - Visit the Fort Worth Stockyards Station and watch the famous Texas Longhorns march downtown. After the Gunfight Show and shopping, make your way to the Fort Worth Zoo! Bring a sack lunch or money for lunch.

The Reelers

Calling all movie buffs! Meet with fellow movie lovers to enjoy cult classics and black and white favorites at the center, and travel with the group to visit some of the area's finest boutique theaters and historic cinemas throughout the season.

Wylie 12 Theater - Enjoy CiCi's all you can eat buffet and then head over to the new Wylie 12 movie theater to watch a current flick. Ham Orchards - Founded in 1979, this 100 acre orchard lies just east of Terrell. Ham Orchards consists of 5 orchards containing approximately 6,000 trees. Archery - Bullseye! Learn to shoot the competition style compound bow from a certified instructor. Focus on basic skills, technique, the use and maintenance of equipment and safety. Become a proficient archer and develop strength, flexibility and increased attention span in this unique learning environment.

ARTS & CRAFTS

Senior Craft Corner - Get crafty! Create one of a kind treasures to keep or share with your friends. Quick and easy projects include something for everyone. Learn a new skill or show off an old one in a friendly creative environment with friends.

Senior Painting Class - Create, complete and take home a "themed" painting at the end of each course. Learn to paint and blend lights and shadows to produce one of a kind artwork. All skill levels welcome in this creative hands on setting.

Sewing - Seamlessly stitch your way into sewing! Learn to operate your machine or advance your skills while creating your very own gifts and projects and learning invaluable techniques. Basic to advanced, all skill levels benefit from this hands on instruction and creative atmosphere.

Basic Instruction - Learn basic skills needed to operate and troubleshoot your sewing machine or improve current skills. $10 supply fee payable to instructor at first class.

Crayon Tote - Prerequisite: Basic Instruction or instructor approval. Learn basic bag making skills. Take home a cute tote for yourself, your child or even a friend. Tote includes slots to hold crayons and handles to make transport easy and fast. $8 supply fee payable to instructor at first class.

Pajama Pants - Prerequisite: Basic Instruction or instructor approval. Cut those curves! Learn how cut and stitch a cute pattern into pajama pants. Also, learn how to sew curves and make hems. $15 supply fee payable to instructor at first class.

Gracie's Gown - Prerequisite: Basic Instruction or instructor approval. Make a hospital gown for a special child. Learn how to apply bias tape. No supply fee. Optional: completed gowns collected at the end of class and donated.

Pillow Case - All levels welcome. Learn the basic skill of sewing, including the straight stitch. $10 supply fee payable to instructor at first class.

DANCE

Ballroom Dance - Get serious about learning ballroom dance! Learn a variety of steps and combinations at your own pace. Gain confidence, experience and new moves. Learn graceful partnering in a comfortable and friendly environment. Prepare to be a hit at the next wedding or party.

Country Dance Two Step - Boot scoot your way to fun and health! Learn basic steps and turns, and work up to more advanced moves. Energizing steps get your feet moving as you build confidence. All levels benefit from a self paced instruction that helps you dance like a pro.

Creative Movement - Parent and child benefit from this nurturing introduction to movement and dance. Musically inspired leaps, bobs, jumps and turns help to foster imagination while improving gross motor skills and body awareness. Enjoy sharing the joy of music and dance with your little one.

Hip Hop - The hottest moves for any level! Learn the basics of rhythm using a variety of smooth, bouncy and hype moves set to energetic melodies. Express personal style, self awareness and assertiveness while improving motor skills, memory retention and making new friends.

Line Dance Workshop - Click your heels and tap your toes in a fun and energizing social setting! Learn basic steps and choreographed routines set to the best in country music. Instruction incorporates moves from Country Cha Cha's, Polka and Waltzes. Master the Boot Scootin' Boogie, Texas Freeze and more.

SPORTS

Soccer Shots - A fun introductory soccer program for the kids! Learn basic skills through individual and group activities that familiarize participants with the game while preparing young bodies for an active childhood. Build character, learn about teamwork and sharing, improve communication skills and refine coordination.

Tennis - Learn the exciting game of tennis! Have loads of fun while improving strokes with this United States Tennis Association QuickStart curriculum. Consistent instruction of basics and beyond builds a solid tennis foundation. This combination of fun and effort develops attention span, stamina, discipline and confidence.

Karate - Learn the Ryubukai Okinawan art of self-defense that employs hand strikes and kicks with swift and calculated movements used to disable or subdue an opponent. Focus on the flow of movement, sparring and weapons while attaining discipline, self-control and physical fitness.

HEALTH & FITNESS

Chair Exercise - Fit and fun low impact exercise adapted to fit the needs for those with disabilities, poor balance or trouble standing on the floor for exercise. Instructor uses a variety of tools such as resistance bands, arm weights and group exercise techniques to keep you on your toes and feeling great!

Cardio Ballroom - Mambo, Tango and Merengue your way into getting fit! Learn popular moves while developing coordination. Gain musicality and balance with this unique combination of endurance and dance conditioning. No partner needed in this infectiously fun and easy calorie burning group exercise environment.

Step Aerobics - Get stepping! Learn creative step routines that build cardiovascular endurance and burn fat. A variety of moves with different levels of challenge keep you moving while shaping and firming your body. All levels benefit from this physical activity set to fun music.

Tai Chi - Tai Chi Chuan, an ancient Chinese martial art regarded for superior health art and moving meditation. Guided instruction leads you through focused, slow and controlled movements that enhance balance, agility, flexibility and strength while reducing stress and calming the mind.

Yoga - Fitness and well-being designed for everyone while connecting body and mind through controlled breathing, stretches and poses. Whether part of your regular fitness circuit or stand alone exercise, benefit from the mind and body working in complimentary synchronization.

Core Strength - Gain balance and coordination and reduce the risk of injury while gaining strength. Target the core muscles of the body’s trunk with strength exercises combined with medicine balls, stability balls, gravity and your body weight. All levels of fitness experience welcome.

Zumba - Ditch the workout and join the party! This fusion of Latin and international music creates a dynamic, exciting and effective cardio session. The routines feature interval training techniques with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Lose yourself in energetic moves while shaping up.

Boot Camp - Get into the best shape of your life while having a blast! This intense, result-oriented class combines interval cardio and total body sculpting exercises for the results you want at a high energy and accelerated pace. All fitness levels benefit from this exciting, challenging and rewarding workout.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

Defensive Driving - Learn to drive defensively in a fun and fast paced environment. Refresh your knowledge from the rules of the road to collision prevention. Become a more informed and better prepared driver. Certificate received upon completion may be used for traffic ticket dismissal and auto insurance discounts.
