The primary goal of the Citizens Police Academy is to foster a better relationship between the community and the police department through training, utilizing the philosophy of a two-way lectern. It is envisioned that class members will:
- Gain an understanding of the operations of the Wylie Police Department
- Develop an awareness and appreciation of the various challenges and decisions faced daily by police officers
- Participate in practical exercises designed to illustrate various situations an officer experiences while on duty.
The 2011 CPA will start August 17, 2011 through November 16, 2011.
It will be held at the Wylie Municipal Court room from 7pm to 10 pm every Wednesday night.
We will be accepting applications until close of business July 29th.
Only 25 seats will be available for this class.

Graduates of the programs have formed the Wylie Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association, an active group whose mission is to promote and enhance the relationship between the Wylie Police Department and the community through continued law enforcement education and support of the department’s effort.
