do not have a set test date at this time, intermittent testing

United States citizen, twenty-one (21) years of age or older,
clear driving record, no felony convictions. Previous Police
Officer and TCLEOSE certification preferred, but not required.
TESTING: Applicants will be contacted for
a written exam to take place at Wylie PD’s discretion.
Each candidate who passes the written exam will proceed to
the physical fitness assessment. A Personal History Statement
will then be provided to all candidates who successfully complete
both the written and physical assessments. Upon submission
of the personal history statement, background investigations
and oral board interviews will commence within 30 days.
Valid Texas Driver’s License is required to be admitted
to the test.

Safety Dispatcher
JOB TITLE: Dispatcher/911 Calltaker
START RATE: $16.29 per hour

of Dallas, Texas, seeks a seasoned Dispatchers/911 Calltaker.

GENERAL JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
Receives requests for police, fire and emergency medical services;
dispatches public safety units; operates various telecommunications
equipment; prepares reports; maintains files. This employee
must be available to work any shift, holidays and weekends
as needed for scheduling purposes.
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to,
the following:
Call-taking: Answering and processing E911
and non-emergency calls for service via Computer Aided Dispatch
system. Monitoring and use of a telephone device for the deaf;
utilizing maps and emergency resource materials; compiling
daily reports for administration; recording information for
Police/Fire/EMS personnel, and learning practices and procedures
used by all departments.
Dispatching: Maintaining accurate status
of Police/Fire/EMS personnel and apparatus via Computer Aided
Dispatching system. Will conduct computer searches through
local, state, and national crime databases for wanted subjects,
stolen property, driver information etc.; Will make confirmations
on wanted subjects and arrest warrants and relay said information
to requesting officers; send teletypes via Texas and National
Law Enforcement Telecommunications System; enter, clear, and
validate computer entries with Texas Dept. of Public Safety
and others; initiate and test emergency civil defense sirens,
monitor direct incoming alarm panels, weather monitors, security
and jail cameras, city wide radio and other mutual aid city
radio channels.
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
- One – two years experience as a Public Safety Dispatcher
required
- TCLEOSE Telecommunicator and TLETS 40 Hour Certifications
within one year of hire date
- Knowledge of telephone skills as related to multiple
incoming emergency and non-emergency lines
- Difference between civil and criminal law, practices
and procedures used by police and fire departments.
- Skill to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing,
good diction and enunciation
- Skills to communicate via radio system
- Working knowledge of windows 2000 operating system.
Intensive background investigation, polygraph examination,
psychological examination, pre-employment physical and drug
test are required as a condition of employment. Position is
full time, plus overtime, nights, weekends and holidays.

The City of Wylie (pop, 39,300) seeks a seasoned Recreation
Supervisor for our growing Community Center and recreation
programs. The City is currently designing a new, state-of-the-art
recreation center. The Recreation Supervisor will be integral
in the design and planning of this facility. Staff includes
one Senior Citizen Program Monitor, multiple part-time Building
Monitors and the summer youth camp (Wylie WAVE) program staff.
JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision
of the Assistant Parks & Recreation Superintendent, assists
in the planning, promotion, development, coordination and
supervision of recreation and leisure activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise, plan and organize recreation activities at
the City’s recreational sites, buildings, facilities,
and programs.
- Supervise staff at the City’s recreation sites,
buildings, facilities, and programs.
- Prepare and maintain departmental records and correspondence.
- Develop, market and promote programs through recreation
publications, newsletters, fliers and other media.
- Teach, coordinate and implement a variety of courses
based on individual abilities and the needs of the community.
- Assist in the operation of a public recreation facility,
including registration, equipment check out, answering telephones,
supervising building activities, transporting/participating
in outings and performing related duties.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and the
successful implementation of the adopted budget.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
A minimum of two years of job related experience in the recreation
programming field, with a preference of five or more years
of job related experience, and a minimum of two years of successful
supervisory experience. Knowledge of the philosophy and techniques
of recreation programming, principles of supervision, equipment
and supplies standard to recreation programs, personal computer
software programs for word processing, graphics and spread
sheet applications. Ability to maintain accurate records,
prepare reports, complete forms, and address customer service
issues in a timely fashion as needed for the successful operation
of a recreation facility. Must promote and maintain good public
relations and be customer-service oriented. Ability to train
and organize volunteers. Ability to function successfully
in a dynamic environment requiring multi-tasking, shifting
priorities, efficient and effective use of available resources
is key. The candidate should have a proven record of planning
and implementing recreational programs and developing and
promoting such programs for all ages. Skills to operate a
computer keyboard, calculator, photocopier, vehicle and equipment
related to programs. Ability to successfully interact and
communicate orally and in writing with all levels of co-workers,
management staff, citizens and the public is essential. Ability
to work hours outside of normal business hours as needed.
Ability to maintain an acceptable attendance history. Ability
to pass a pre-employment drug screening test, physical and
criminal background check.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Texas Driver’s License with no restrictions except
“A”, clear driving record. Bachelor’s or
minimum of an Associate’s degree with major course work
in parks and recreation programming, recreation administration,
or therapeutic recreation and a minimum of two years of related
experience.

JOB TITLE: Waste Water Maintenance Worker

JOB SUMMARY:
Under supervision, perform installation, maintenance and repair
of wastewater collection systems.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work effectively with other crew members to repair or
replace water or sewer service lines, water or sewer mains.
- Responsible for cleaning, maintaining and servicing tools
and equipment.
- Load and unload materials and equipment.
- Unstop sewer lines.
- Install clean-outs in sewer lines.
- Set-up barricades when and where needed for the safety
of employees and the public.
- Read and interpret written job instructions, maps, drawings
and plans.
- Write reports by hand.
- Hear clearly when working around equipment and in traffic,
always using proper safety precautions.
- Subject to after-hours call-out for emergency situations,
as defined by supervisor.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Six months working in water or wastewater position. Experience
working with various types of equipment, i.e., pumps, generators,
backhoes, dump trucks, jet trucks, service trucks, wrenches,
hand and power saws, jackhammers, hammers of various sizes
and types, grinders, shovels, drain spades, drills and/or
drill presses. High School diploma or equivalent. Valid Texas
Driver’s License, Class “C” without restrictions
except (A). Certifications including Wastewater Class II or
III Collection, Water Class B or C Distribution, Customer
Service Inspections and Backflow Assembly Tester are all a
plus, but are not required. CDL a plus.
