Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Rita & Truett Smith Public Library is a non-policy making non-profit organization that operates exclusively for the civic purpose to support the library. We accomplish this through advocacy and fundraising in order to help the library with its mission to provide educational, informational, and recreational resources to all patrons of the library.The Friends of the Library meet on the third Tuesday every month at 6:30 pm to discuss various issues related to supporting the library.

Volunteer for the Friends of the Library!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Friends of the Smith Public Library. Currently, all of our weekly volunteer slots are full.
We are accepting applications for special events volunteers. We have two special events coming up. The details for those are listed below:
- Tuesday, October 26th from 5:00-7:30pm Friends of the Library Night of Spooks Fundraiser
- Saturday, November 6th from 1:00-4:00pm Fall Back to the 50s: Smith Public Library’s 50th Anniversary Party sponsored by the Friends of the Library
If you are interested in volunteering for these events, please fill out this application. Once your application and background check is complete, you will receive a welcome email. When we are ready to schedule volunteers for the events above, we will send out another email with details on how you can help. All of our communication is done through email, so please be sure to check your messages regularly if you would like to participate.
More events will come up throughout the year, so if the ones listed above do not work for you, then feel free to apply and you will receive notice about other events as they are scheduled.
