Robert King was born in Dallas County and graduated from high school in Wylie. Robert and his wife, Martha, owned and operated the Wylie Flower Shop. He served as justice of the peace and was an active member of the Wylie Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Merchants Association. Robert resides in Wylie. He has two grown children.

Pamela King Wells was born and raised in Wylie, Texas. She graduated from Texas Tech Law School and took over the Wylie Flower Shop from her parents, Robert and Martha, in 1994. She has operated the business ever since. Pamela has two grown children.

In November 1969, Charles "Tex" Watson was arrested in Texas for the Tate-LaBianca murders. While awaiting extradition to California, Watson was incarcerated at the Collin County Prison in McKinney. Robert King was his jailer.
