Boards & Commissions
To assist in the governing process, the City of Wylie utilizes various boards and commissions. Each board or commission, with a city official liaison, serves an important role and is comprised of citizens who are nominated and appointed by the Wylie City Council.
All meeting agendas are posted 72 hours in advance of the meeting as required by the Open Meeting Laws. The City posts meeting minutes once approval of the minutes is obtained, which occurs at the next meeting.
Any questions regarding Boards & Commissions may be directed to the City Secretary's Office at 972-516-6020.
Apply to Serve on a Board or Commission
This process begins with solicitation of applicants to fill expiring or vacant terms on city boards and commissions. Current board and commission members, whose terms are expiring, may reapply for their position on the board or commission and participate in a reappointment process, similar to new applicants.
Citizens interested in applying, please read the Boards and Commissions Qualifications here and then apply utilizing one of the two forms below:
Board of Ethics (application deadline of May 1)
In mid-May, City Council will interview all applicants for the Board of Ethics.
All other Boards & Commissions (application deadline of May 15)
Beginning late May/early June, a three-member City Council panel will volunteer their time to meet all new applicants prior to making their nominations for appointments. This is an opportunity for both Council and the applicant to visit informally about the community and board appointment. At a City Council meeting, the City Council will make all nominations and appointments in open session. All applicants will be contacted after the appointments are official.
