Howdy, and welcome to Wylie, Texas!
Whether you are a current resident or learning more about our award-winning city, I hope you find our website informative and useful. Wylie offers an outstanding quality of life and hometown feel to our more than 54,000 residents, a friendly and supportive environment for businesses, and unique opportunities for visitors.
Founded in 1887, Wylie has a rich history you can still experience today in our historic downtown district. Take a walk down Ballard Avenue and stop in one of the unique shops or enjoy a meal at the many restaurants. Downtown Wylie is also home to numerous historic landmarks and buildings featuring Victorian and Craftsman architecture.
Wylie hosts many community events throughout the year including the 500 Pedal Car Race, Bluegrass on Ballard, Wylie Arts Festival, the Chamber of Commerce rodeo, and our annual Christmas parade and tree lighting. Lavon Lake and Lake Ray Hubbard are nestled around the city providing excellent opportunities for enjoying the outdoors.
Wylie has been named Best Place to Live and Best Place to Raise a Family in the U.S., and is known as one of the safest communities in the country. Wylie ISD is an award-winning school district that offers exceptional programs for all students. Wylie Fire Rescue boasts the top ISO 1 rating, our police department is recognized for their outstanding work in our community, and our parks and recreation facilities offer opportunities for citizens to get out and be active!
Wylie is proud of the relationship between our local businesses and the community. We are home to a wide variety of companies including manufacturers, assemblers, retailers, boutiques and more! Our Economic Development Corporation works hard to bring the right partners to Wylie and looks forward to working with you.
