Wylie Fire Rescue
CPR and AED Training


Wylie Fire Rescue is happy to offer CPR and AED training to citizens and local business. 

Class Times / Locations:  We offer a CPR class every other month.  Locations vary but they are all held within the Wylie City Limits.

September:  No Classes
October:  October 8, 2019 at 9:00 a.m.  Location to be announced at a later date.

Payment:  Cash/Check - All checks for the card course and materials will need to be made out to the City of Wylie.

Personalized Instruction for your group / business is available:   If you would like to have a course at your business we can have an instructor come to your business and teach the course. You may contact the instructor directly to set a date/time.  See below for contact information.  The fees are the same.

The American Heart Association courses will provide you with the most current methods and treatment options in healthcare. The instruction staff is experienced and genuinely enjoys teaching with enthusiasm. We also have courses for individuals who do not work in healthcare, but would like to be trained to help in an emergency. Each of our licensed instructors are certified firefighter/paramedics through Texas Department of Health. Upon successfully completing the course, you will be given a certified American Heart Association card that will be valid for 2 years.

Class Levels

Wylie Fire Rescue offers numerous course levels to meet the individual needs of the community through the American Heart Association.

HEALTHCARE PROVIDER is designed for healthcare providers who have a duty to respond to a medical emergency. This would include hospital staff, dental offices, physician offices, home health, nursing home staff, and physical fitness trainers. Course length: 3-4 hours

HEARTSAVER FIRST AID (Adult and Pediatric) is designed for the child or adult basic rescuers. This would include foster parent, adoption, lifeguard, child care, public or corporate first responder teams. Course length: 4-5 hours

HEARTSAVER AED is designed for those who have access to an AED. For example; airport staff, hotel staff, arena staff, or responder teams. Course length: 2-3 hours

Materials Needed:

Each student MUST have a student manual. We can provide the books with the course or you can purchase one on your own before class. An electronic version of the manual is also available by the name of Ebooks. You can obtain these electronic versions at www.ebook.heart.org . You will be required to bring the book to class to use it during the course. 

Cost:

Healthcare Provider: Course with book provided $50.00; without book is $35.00
Heartsaver First Aid (Adult or Pediatric): Course with book provided $ 60.00; course without book is $45.00
Heartsaver AED: Course with book provided $45.00; course without book is $30.00

About the classes:

Heartsaver First Aid:Under the 2010 AHA guidelines this course is considered a specialty program. There are many modules to include or exclude depending on the participants needs.

Designed for the basic rescuers. This would include personal reasons for taking the course, foster parenting (Age group 8 years and up), adoption, child care (Age group 8 years and up), corporate/group responder teams. If you are not sure if your profession requires this level please contact our office.

Course offering includes adult CPR, child CPR, and/or infant CPR (or a combination of) procedures. The CPR portion includes 1 rescuer CPR, choking, airway delivery devices, and more. The first aid portion includes common work place medical emergencies and appropriate care of heart attacks, strokes, seizures, diabetes, bleeding, stings, spinal injuries and more. The course intergrades the newly released American Heart Association First Aid curriculum.

 Heartsaver AED: Designed for those who have access to an automated external defibrillator (AED). This would include personal reasons for taking the course, airport staff, hotel staff, arena/stadium staff, corporate/group responder teams. If you are not sure if your profession requires this level please contact our office. Course includes adult procedures for 1 rescuer CPR, choking, airway delivery devices, and extensive hands-on AED training. This course is offered for private trainings for corporations or groups who are establishing an AED response team. Limited seating is available for private individuals.
