What dates can I schedule parties?
You may schedule party dates for any Saturday or Sunday between 1 and 4 p.m. Parties are generally scheduled at the fire station closest to your home.
How long do the parties last?
Birthday parties should not last more than two hours. Parents are responsible for setup and cleanup. Parents may arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to the party for setup and may remain 30 minutes after the party for cleanup.
What do I need to provide for the party?
Parents must provide all supplies, including but not limited to: paper goods, cakes, balloons, drinks, etc. Decorations are not allowed to be hung on walls.
Does WFR provide any necessities for the party?
WFR has ice machines and will provide ice for your child's party. Refrigerators and freezers are available for cakes and ice cream as well. Tables and chairs are provided to seat 12 children.
How many children can attend?
Because many parents attend parties with their children and many bring siblings, WFR asks that you limit invitations to 12 children per party.
What will be provided for the party?
WFR staff will do their best to make your child and guests feel welcome, including giving guided tours of the station and allowing children the opportunity to view vehicles. Additionally, they will give a short overview of fire safety to guests (a lot of great information is given during this discussion and we find many parents enjoy it more than the kids!).
Will WFR staff remain with guests during the entire party?
WFR remains on call 24/7, 365 days per year delivering excellent E.M.S. and fire services to our citizens. If our staff is dispatched to a call during your child’s party, firefighters will be forced to leave the party. In essence, you may not get everything you expected. As much as we may regret this action, our number one focus must be assisting individuals at a crucial moment in their lives.
Is there a fee for having my child’s party?
There are no fees required to have your child’s party at the fire station; however, donations to the Friends of Wylie Fire Rescue are accepted. Donations may be made in the form of cash or check. Checks should be made payable to the Friends of Wylie Fire Rescue.
What do I have to do to schedule my child’s birthday party?
Although you have the option of having the party at any station, we encourage you to go to the station closest to your home. WFR staff will respond to you on the availability of stations. Not all dates and times may be available due to training or previously scheduled events. You may click on the link above to complete the form for the birthday request. It will open a page and you will then click on "Fire House Tour or Party." It will open a form for you to complete.
Is there anything else I need to do?
WFR would like to be sure each family understands the rules set forth in this document and may have the ability to answer any additional questions by completion of the form noted above. You may complete this form by hand or electronically. If you choose to complete the form by hand, please bring the form with you on the day of the party.
Do I have to be a citizen of Wylie in order to have a birthday party at a fire station?
Because members of Wylie Fire Rescue serve the citizens of Wylie, Wylie residents receive priority with regard to scheduling birthday parties at our fire stations; however, we welcome all requests for party dates. WFR asks both our citizens and our city's guests to understand all events must be scheduled around city and department needs; WFR will do its best to accommodate requests.
