How to Participate

Beginning on May 24th, read at least 5 hours a week in order to submit a log each week. 

On June 21st, you can start submitting your logs electronically here on the Teen Summer Learning page. Then, stop by the library to pick up your free book every time you submit a log! Teens may turn in 8 logs maximum all summer. 

Every time you submit a log, you also get a chance to win one of our awesome grand prizes!

1.) Social Media Guru Prize Pack: Includes a ring light kit, smartphone tripod stand,
and green screen backdrop)
2.) Anime & Manga Prize Pack: Includes a $50 gift card to Books Kinokuniya and a $50
gift subscription to Crunchyroll
3.) Entertainment Choice Prize Pack: Choose a $100 gift card for iTunes, Netflix, Xbox, PS4,
or Nintendo. Or, split the prize and choose two for $50 each!

SUMMER PROGRAMS*

Registration for *Registration Required* programs begins 1 week prior to the program date with the link appearing on this page.

June 18th- Start off the summer with a months long scavenger hunt and get entered to win a family membership to the Dallas Zoo when you complete it! Last day to submit challenges is August 7th. Download the Seek app by iNaturalist and complete the challenge posted on the library’s website and Facebook page. *VIRTUAL*

June 25th- “You Tried” Art Challenge. Attempt to replicate a famous work of art using our canvas and your tools! Just like the Netflix show Nailed It!, you’ll only have a certain amount of time to complete it before you have to turn it in for judging! *VIRTUAL* Teens will have until July 9th to submit their recreation!

July 2nd- Podcast Workshop. Learn how to create your own podcast! We’ll go over the equipment you’ll need, the best podcasting practices, and some basic editing tools to get started! *VIRTUAL*

July 9th- Frisco Improv Players will be at the library for an improv comedy teaching session! Come hone your comedy skills with some of DFW’s best, and get ready for your career on SNL! *IN-PERSON* REGISTRATION REQUIRED *Registration for this program will open on June 25th*

July 16th- Terrarium Take & Make. Come join us at the library, or grab a kit to take home, and make your own personalized succulent and air plant terrarium. We’ll provide all the materials you need, and the plants! *IN-PERSON OR TAKE HOME* REGISTRATION REQUIRED *Registration for this program will open July 9th*

July 23rd- The Texas Storm Chasers are back for 2021! Chelsea Burnett will be hosting a presentation on severe weather in Texas, and you’ll have a chance to submit your own questions for her to be answered in the video presentation! *VIRTUAL*
